We joined Green Drinks Guelph at the Red Chevron Club on 10 October 2024. Dave presented “Manufacturing the Future: Guelph’s Journey to Sustainability”, sharing our view of the practical work behind industrial monitoring.
The discussion connected local sustainability interests with the realities of running a factory. Manufacturers need to manage resource use and emissions while keeping production reliable. The useful starting point is knowing where water and energy go, and when their use changes.
Our talk focused on making those questions easier to answer with measurements. A clear operating baseline gives a team something to compare against. Readings can then show an unusual pattern, help direct a check on the floor and show what happens after an adjustment.
That connection between a local conversation and everyday factory work was the reason for the talk. We brought a manufacturing perspective to a community audience with interests in food, agriculture and sustainability, alongside the people thinking about Guelph’s industrial future.
